My first game was at Roker Park, April 28, 1965. I was taken by my grandfather. Everything seemed so huge! The game was a 3 - 0 win against Sheffield Wednesday. The first Sunderland goal and so also the first Sunderland goal I witnessed was scored by Len Ashurst who only scored 4 times in a Sunderland career of over 450 appearances.
The best game by far was the 3 - 1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup 5th round replay in 1973. The atmosphere was quite unbelievable. We could have beaten anyone that night.
That's a difficult one, as I've seen so much rubbish. Could probably pick any home game in the 2005/06 15 point season.
Just for the occasion. Pure theatre.
I know it is a great old ground with a fantastic tradition and history, but it had the least leg room I've ever encountered.
