Plans for City Ground revamp delayed

Thursday 19th March 2020

Nottingham Forest's plan for a £100m expansion to the City Ground have been delayed due to delays in the planning process.

The club had originally wanted to start work this summer, however that will not now take place even though the plans were submitted to the council last December.

The Championship side last year revealed the plans for increasing the stadium's capacity to 36,000, making it the largest in the East Midlands. This will be achieved by rebuilding the Peter Taylor stand into a new 10,000 capacity structure.

Plans to redevelop the City Ground

Thursday 28th February 2019

Nottingham Forest have released plans to redevelop the City Ground.

The first major changes since 1994, the club will completely rebuild the Peter Taylor stand and add a new museum and shop as well as improved facilities for supports all around the stadium.

Improvements include:

  • New museum
  • New club shop
  • Hospitality lounges
  • Restaurants
  • Executive boxes
  • New spacious concourse
  • Improved facilities for disabled supporters
  • A substantial increase in wheelchair spaces

After an initial consultation period, it is hoped that building work will start at the end of the 2019/2020 season. The developments will make the City Ground the largest in the East Midlands, with a capacity of 38,000.

The announcement comes as the club extended the ground's lease with the local council.
