About bozzy18

First Game

26th December 1994... A 4-1 defeat at home to Sheff Wed.
You may think why did I ever go back? Probably because I was only 5 so cannot remember it but what I do know that day is the Everton goalscorer was a certain Duncan Ferguson who has been a hero ever since!

The first game I can remember was actually the complete opposite... 8th May 1999. We hammered West Ham 6-0. I still remember walking up the Gwladys St steps and seeing the electric green pitch which made the hairs on the back of my 9 year old neck stand on end. Despite the immense scoreline with goals from Ball, Jeffers, Hutchinson (Admittedly I've just had to look those up!) I do remember Super Kevin Campbell bagging a hat-trick! Despite all of that though my lasting memory of the day was hearing Z Cars blast around the famous old lady... I have now been a season ticket holder for 8 years and listening to the first few drum beats of Z Cars never get's any less special.

Best Game

There are a number of games which I could choose as my best... Watching my team win at Wembley will always be special on top of numerous Merseyside derby victories and also beating money spending City and the odd special victory over United the one that stands out for me is actually a defeat!

After going to Italy and watching us under perform and get beat comfortably 2-0 by Fiorentina the return leg was always going to be a tough ask but that night Goodison was somthing else! That atmosphere will never be beaten... I can say that as it would be impossible to better it as it was simply electric! We came back from 2 goals down that night to get a 2-2 draw only to go on and lose on penalities. Heartbreak at the end of the match? No such thing! It was simply pride as every player on that pitch knew the fans played a huge part that night and we as fans knew the players couldn't give anymore! It was a special, special night.

Worst Game

I've also had a few of these as life as an Evertonian is never easy but non have been bad enough to write about. When we do get beat it's down to poor team selection, injuries, tactics etc but one thing I will never fault the players for is lack of effort so as long as they are giving their all for the Royal Blue jersey then I cannot fault them!

I've been lucky enough to watch the Blues 3 times at Wembley and each time (1 victory & 2 defeats) it has been incredible. I don't think it's the ground so much but the fellow Blues within it that make it so, so special. Hopefully there will be more days like that to come...

A few may see this as a surprise selection if you have been there... Padded seats, plenty of leg room, incredible views but there is one thing that is more important than any of that. An atmosphere and the time I visited the Emirates there simply wasn't one! We lost the game 1-0 to a late RVP goal so there was no excuse for it as even when the ball hit the back of the net it was a mere round of applause... That's something being an Evertonian I am not use to as when we score we like a riot!!!
