johnwickenden's review of Crowborough Community Stadium

I visited what used to be known as the Alderbrook Recreation Ground to see the Crows last home game of the season against Beckenham Town. The ground is a decent Step 5 venue, good enough for the Ryman league.

Location

The ground is located in the south of Crowborough, some way from the town centre and about 20 minutes walk from the railway station. There are no pubs in the immeadiate vicinty of the ground, the nearest being the Plough and Horses about 10 minutes walk away.
There is a car park located on site and there is plenty of street parking nearby

View

Entrance into the ground is via turnstiles in the northwest corner. The clubhouse / changing room complex is next to the turnstiles, located behind the goal. The clubhouse is fronted by a covered terrace whilst the right hand side of the ground contains three covered enclosures. The first is a small temporary metal stand which seats about 50 people. Next to this is the Main Stand, holding about 100, and gives a raised view of the match. Beyond this is another metal stand, identical is size to the first, but this one contains no seats. The far end of the ground and the left hand side are open with just a concrete path.

Facilities

Toliets are located in the clubhouse. There is no club shop but, as usual, badges, scaves etc are available from the teabar.

Food & Drink

There is a tea bar located in the clubhouse terrace. Unusually for this level, the bar is not located inside - here there is a small brick building in the left hand corner, acting as a bar. This is known as 'the Crows Arms'.

Atmosphere

Crowbrorough were, at he time of the match, still in with a chance of winning the league and gaining promotion, plus - being the last game of the season - a bumper crowd of over 250 was present. Whilst there wasn't any singing, there was plenty of noise and banter from the home fans, giving the game more atmosphere than some Ryman Premier games I've witnessed.
