Plans for new 27,000 seater stadium in Mexico

Friday 11th September 2020

The Mexican city of Merida is set to build a new multi purpose stadium which will be the new home of Venados de Merida FC, who currently play in the Liga de Expansion MX (the second tier of football in Mexico).

The £80m stadium will also house the city's Leones de Yucatan baseball team and will be built to host other sports including boxing and tennis.

The new stadium will be known as Estadio Sostenible de Yucatan and will also include a hotel, shops, restaurants and museum.

It is hoped that the new stadium will be ready sometime in 2023.
