"Very tidy little non-league ground"

I visited on an August bank holiday to watch Merstham v. Jersey Bulls. It ended 2-2, with Merstham having thrown away a two goal lead. The ground overall was surprisingly good - a couple of stands (one long one down one side of the pitch, the other behind a goal) with the option to stand elsewhere. Clubhouse, club shop, old-school full-height turnstiles, and a well-maintained pitch. Downsides were the lack of elevation on either stand and the fact that the Tannoy system, which wasn't brilliant, was operated by someone who didn't think details mattered very much, except for a select detail that would be repeated ad infinitum - "Substitution for Merstham; number 12 for Merstham is replaced by the Moatsider's number 17 for Merstham" would be typical, which is basically the same as simply saying "a substitution is happening".

Location

I came on the bike from Reigate; there were no specific places to lock bikes but the carpark seemed ample.

Plenty of choice if you like standing; at 300 attendees, the main stand down one side of the pitch was almost full (not helped by the fact that part was roped off for the media team from Jersey).

Facilities

I didn't use the toilets.

Food & Drink

There was Bovril, at a very welcome £1.20, in cash. But there was quite a queue and only one of the hatches for food and drink was being served.

Police & Stewards

None visible.

Atmosphere

The Merstham Ultras, with their flag proclaiming a vociferous dislike for Redhill FC, set up behind the goal. I know football fans everywhere have strong passions but it was weird to see so many drums, banners and replica kits at this level. It never threatened to reach the main stand, though, where polite applause was much more common.
