"Outstanding stadium"

Probably one of the greatest stadiums in the world. Do not put off by the fact it has a running track, it is exceptional. The atmosphere, the architecture, the whole experience is wonderful.

Location

It's a long way out of town, but Berlin's public transport system is top class. There's a station called olympiastadion - couldn't be easier.

View

Paid 55 euros to sit in the top tier along the side of the pitch so we got a quality TV view. If your are in the ostkurve with the ultras, your view may not be as great. Especially when they let flares of. Smoke hung around for ages.

Facilities

Clean and plentiful, large queues at half time. Every man in Germany washes their hands.

Food & Drink

Loads of options. If the weather's good, go early sit on the grass with a beer and a bratwurst in the sunshine. Big queues especially at half time, but they move quick. Also you can buy beer by the litre, which helps.

Police & Stewards

One steward for the whole section we were in, people (with kids) had to sit on the steps because people were in their seats. Not great.

Atmosphere

Hertha fans did not shut up for 90 minutes. Amazing. Bouncing, flares, banners, tifos very entertaining to watch. Mind you, they were playing Bayern (who were pretty lively themselves) so that probably helped. Many, many Bayern fans in the home end but no trouble whatsoever.
