Vale Park Facts

  • At its opening the ground was known as 'The Wembley of the North' due to its size. (newfieldvaliant)
  • On 1 August 1981, Vale Park hosted a one-off rock concert, dubbed "Heavy Metal Holocaust", featuring Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne Band, Mahogany Rush, Triumph, Riot and Vardis. (newfieldvaliant)
  • Vale Park is home to a Blue Plaque by the main entrance - for legendary Motorhead rock star frontman the late Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister, who was from Burslem (valiants1876)
