News about Salford City

Salford City to play at Moor Lane for one more season

Friday 25th March 2022

Salford City have confirmed that they will spend next season at the current Moor Lane stadium.

The announcement comes as the League Two club look to buy the AJ Bell stadium from local rugby sides Salford Red Devils and Sale Sharks. City have been keen on a move to the bigger stadium, but the sale will not be sanctioned until a new home has been found for the rugby sides.

The AJ Bell Stadium sits around 6 miles away from Moor Lane, close to the Trafford Centre and junction 11 of the M60.

Salford are hoping to move into the AJ Bell Stadium in time for the 2023/2024 season.

Salford set new record attendance

Wednesday 14th August 2019

Salford City have set a new record attendance at their Moor Lane stadium. The new record of 4,518 was set in the League Cup first round tie against Leeds United.

Salford are currently enjoying their first ever season in League football having been taken over by a consortium including Class of 92 players Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham. The Ammies have enjoyed incredible success since the takeover, achieving 4 promotions in 6 years.

The match was televised by Sky with Leeds running out 3-0 winners.
