southerntraveller's review of War Memorial Sports Ground

With the ban on fans attending games in the higher leagues continueing I decided to take in an FAC match this particular Saturday afternoon and chose this game for no apparent reason as I live on the South Coast. Travelled up by train to East Croydon then a bus to Carshalton High Street.

Location

A bit of a walk from Carshalton High Street but a couple of decent pubs on the way, I chose to have a pint in both The Greyhound Hotel in the High Street, and The Hope in West Street which is close to the ground.

View

After having a walk around the ground I chose to sit in the main stand which gave a good view of the pitch, behind the one goal is a narrow covered terrace, with an open terrace behind the other goal, while there is a covered terrace that runs the length of the pitch opposite the main stand.

Facilities

As you'd expect for a lower league ground the facilities are basic.

Atmosphere

There is a small section of home fans who are quite vocal.
