hampshirehopper's review of Eastwood Leisure Centre

New football ground which is part of the Sheerwater regeneration project (which has bankrupted Woking Borough Council!). Built on to the side of a new sports centre. You have to enter via the sports centre reception, head upstairs, go through the bar and back down another flight of stairs. Wheelchair users - no problem, there's a lift beside both flights of stairs. Cash and card are both accepted at turnstile and bar, just how it should always be. Nice how in the bar area they print out and stick on the wall the latest league tables for the CCL, last weeks results in the league, etc.

Location

Bit of a walk from either Woking or West Byfleet stations, a little over a mile for each. Coming via West Byfleet station is the nicer of the 2 walking routes if you are coming by train. Car park at the sports centre for over 100 cars, but not quite big enough. Fairly easy to find a parking space out on the estate.

View

Bit of a funny one how they have 2 terraced areas along one side with a single row of seats in each. Should have put two rows of seats in one area so could have allowed for a bit of terracing in the other.

Facilities

5 stars for the toilets in the bar area! Nicest toilets I've ever seen at a footy match.

Food & Drink

No chips! No pies! Just limited range of burgers. No real ale on tap, although they have London Pride and Doom Bar (not a good choice for a real ale lover) in bottles.

Atmosphere

Quiet as. Nice vibe in the bar area. Some friendly locals in there.
