It seems as though New York City FC’s search for a permanent home May be over after the club announced plans for a new 25,000 seater stadium in Queens.
The new stadium will be built within walking distance of both New York Mets’ Citi Field baseball stadium and Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open.
It will be part of a wider regeneration project for the area which will also include 2,500 houses along with a hotel and retail space.
The club joined the MLS Eastern Conference back in 2015 and had been playing most of its Joe games at the New York Yankees’ baseball stadium, along with a number of games at Red Bull Arena, home of city rivals New York Red Bulls.
The project will cost a total of over £5bn with the stadium hoping to be ready for the start of the 2027 MLS season.
