Birmingham City have used the World Cup break to restart repair work to St Andrew’s.
The Championship club has been forced to close large areas of the stadium for more than two years due to structural faults. This has reduced the capacity down from 29,500 to around 19,000.
Part of the strengthening work will be completed during the World Cup, with the last part done after the end of this season. If all goes to plan, St Andrew’s will re-open at full capacity at the start of the 2023-2024 season.
