fulhamhamster's review of Victoria Pleasure Grounds

The Victoria Pleasure grounds is an average non-league football ground. It shares with the Goole athletics so has a running track going around it. Holds 3,000 (300 seats under cover). Doesn't really have an home or away stands, just blend in with other fans. Friendly people at the ground, friendly stewards, the police are non-existent in Goole. Food is ok but have to queue up for a bit, not badly priced. There is a small car park in the VPG that holds about 6-8 cars (but is normally full by chairmen and referees etc), best off parking in Carter Street or surrounding streets, but get there early as they are normally full by about 2 o'clock. Pubs: the best pub near to the ground is The Vic Club down Carter Street, 100 yards from the ground. An excellent pub, well priced drinks, good service and friendly people. Other pubs in the town centre are, the Old George, Wetherspoons, and others, a lot of them round every corner.

Location

In town centre, easy to get to - sign posts in streets near to it.

View

Not many poles and stuff in way of the view when sat down, can sit or stand anywhere within ground and see pitch very good. Comfortable seats (well they are plastic ones like all the rest), a lot of leg room.

Facilities

Poor toilets, ONE single toilet for girls and boys each. Toilets are just outside entrance to bar, not pleasant if someone has just been, when you are walking into bar. Small bar but quite pleasant. Club shop again very small but very pleasant.

Food & Drink

ONE small kitchen thing with one small cooker, so there is a massive queue, and when you get your food it it's ok.

Police & Stewards

Stewarding quite good, good volunteers not much trouble by fans. Police non-existent, when they are there they are over the top - police dogs, 30 police officers (eg. Goole vs FC. United Of Manchester)

Atmosphere

Ok for a non-league team, 100 fans normally.
