dontcallmeroger's review of The University of Bolton Stadium

I've been past the Reebok on a regular basis but this was my first visit for a game. Overall, I was very impressed - it might not be the biggest of grounds, with a lower capacity than the external appearance suggests, but it cuts a striking image thanks to the imaginative design and position close to the M61.

Very easy to reach, being situated just off the M61 and close to a railway station.

Excellent lines of sight from the upper tier of the away end, which is quite steeply raked. Loads of leg room...though perhaps not as much as in other parts of the ground - Bolton fans were conspicuous by their absence, so those that had turned up could pick their seat.

Facilities clean by football stadiums standards. Adequate access to TV screens

Food & Drink

The usual over priced junk, although perhaps Boltonians like to imagine they are more refined than the average football fan - glasses of wine were also on offer and the member of catering staff who served me insisted in pouring my coke into a plastic cup. Probably more to do with preventing me from using the bottle as a lethal weapon.

Police & Stewards

Police very low profile. Contrary to what I had heard, stewards were friendly and made no effort to get the Leeds fans to sit down during the game.

Pitiful really. Our (Leeds') travelling support of c. 4800 was excellent as usual. The rest of the ground was like a morgue.
