New womens football attendance record set

New womens football attendance record set

Friday 1st April 2022

FC Barcelona have set a new record attendance for a women's football match.

The new record crowd of 91,533 was set for Barcelona's women's Champions League tie against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.

The attendance was more than 5,000 higher than the 86,000 who watched the last men's El Clasico. It narrowly beat the previous world record of 90,185 which was set in the 1999 women's World Cup final when USA hosted China at the Rose Bowl in LA.

The attendance comes as England prepares to host the women's Euros this summer, with several matches already sold out. Tickets start from just £10 and can be purchased from the UEFA website.
