Three of the next MLS expansion sides have been delayed due to problems caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
A new team in Charlotte was originally planned to join as an expansion team in 2021 with St Louis and Sacramento due to join in 2022. All 3 have now been delayed a year with Charlotte now due to join in 2022 and St Louis and Sacramento in 2023.
However, Austin FC will still join the Western Conference next season as originally planned.
The 4 new franchises mark the final step in expanding MLS to 30 teams over the next few years.
