One of the lost iconic sporting venues in the world could receive a substantial makeover.
Argentine giants Boca Juniors are looking to expand their La Bombonera stadium and one proposal sees the famously lop-sided ground turned into a complete 360 degree arena with the famous flat stand knocked to the ground.
The plans would also include the new stand being built entirely over the existing road in a move which would increase the stadium capacity from 49,000 to 70,000. A roof would also be added to cover all seats in the new bowl. The total cost for the project is an estimated $70m.
This isn't yet concrete and much will depend on the outcome of the upcoming club presidential elections. An alternative plan from another candidate sees the capacity rise to over 100,000.
