It's the biggest fear of any football club that is about to head into a new stadium. Increased capacity is part of the reason why teams want to switch venues but what if the supporters fail to attend?
That could, potentially be an issue for Everton FC who are set to move into their new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium ahead of the 2024/25 season. It's a new era for the Merseyside outfit but there is a genuine fear among supporters that their new ground might just be hosting Championship football by that point.
Bramley-Moore Dock is situated in the Vauxhall area of Liverpool and it has been identified as a site for potential development for some time. Formerly a thriving commercial location, it's fallen into some disrepair and is widely classed as semi-derelict.
Sites such as this can clearly be regenerated in a number of ways and the construction of sporting stadia is one method in which to bring new growth to a dilapidated area. By the start of the 2024/25 English football season, Bramley-Moore Dock should be transformed with Everton's new ground at its very heart.
