What is Virtual Football And How Does It Work?

What is Virtual Football And How Does It Work?

You watch the Premier League, you watch La Liga, but have you ever watched virtual football?

What is virtual football?

Virtual football is a computer simulation of a football match, run by some of the world’s largest betting sites. It allows players to watch (and bet on) short football matches 24 hours a day - think FIFA, but with gambling.

The outcome of matches is based on a complex algorithm around random number generators. This algorithm produces more randomised results, meaning fans don’t need detailed background information about a team’s form record or players who may be missing through injury or suspension in order to place a bet.

How does it work?

Different companies run their virtual football in different ways, but generally they follow a similar structure to professional football - with different teams from different countries competing for leagues and cups over the course of a season.

Matches are usually much shorter than real football, sometimes as short as 2-3 minutes. This allows fans to follow the action in great detail, whilst also keeping it exciting and engaging.

Much like in real football, each game allows punters to bet on the outcome, meaning you can win real money at Betsson by backing the right team!

Games run back to back and are accompanied by TV-style presentation with match statistics and replays of important events from multiple angles. Instead of showing the full 90 minutes, games are condensed into highlights - showing you the important goals, chances and saves which will affect the outcome of the match.

What teams are involved?

Not all teams and leagues are officially involved in virtual football, so it’s not uncommon to see Pro Evolutions Soccer-style names such as Manchester Reds or Mersey Blues (think Manchester United and Everton). It’s obvious enough to know who the teams actually are though!

International games feature real country names and feel authentic.

The German Bundesliga is officially licensed for some bookmakers, meaning virtual matches can make use of real football club names, giving an extra dimension and sense of realism to the action.

What markets can I bet on?

Many of the usual football markets are replicated in virtual football.

You can bet on the competition winner for organised leagues and tournaments. For single matches, markets include:

Whilst football may be the most popular sport in the world, a number of other virtual sports also exist allowing you to follow the action and win big. Some of our picks include:
