Tottenham vs Manchester City: Citizens Seeking Revenge After Heavy Home Defeat

Manchester City travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, February 26, looking to exact revenge after they suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Ange Postecoglou's team when the sides met back in November.

Spurs and City had also faced off a month earlier in the Carabao Cup, which the north Londoners won 2-1 thanks to two early strikes from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr. Postecoglou will be eyeing a hat-trick of wins over the Citizens this season.

The clash between Spurs and City is set to be a thrilling encounter, offering fans the perfect chance to bet on football with top sportsbooks.

Tottenham are no strangers to doing a league double over City. In the 2021/2022 season, the north London side won both league fixtures against Pep Guardiola's side, winning 1-0 on their ground and 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

It's quite clear that Spurs have been a bit of a hoodoo side for the Citizens. But will they get the better of the Premier League champions who seem to have found their rhythm again? Let's take a look at both teams before coming to a conclusion.

Tottenham vs Manchester City Match Preview

Tottenham

Seeking to make it three wins in a row over Manchester City this season, Spurs will be confident heading into Wednesday night's clash, especially as they play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham have unfortunately been dealt with injuries to key players, which has no doubt led to their poor performances and results. No team would be the same after losing their first-choice goalkeeper and centre-back pairing, but Spurs cannot feel sorry for themselves.

Injuries are part of football, and you don't manage 11 players, you manage a squad. This explains why Postecoglou has been under fire and faced such strong criticism, with most Spurs fans running out of patience with the Greek-born manager.

Another win over City would ease some of that pressure off and boost morale in the team as the north London club look to finish the season strongly.

Manchester City

Manchester City have come a long way since that horrible spell where they lost four league games in a row from the start of November going into December. But the fact remains that City have lost their fear factor this season.

The loss of Rodri has been a massive blow and the inconsistency from the likes of Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne hasn't helped, though the one positive is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian goal machine has been lethal in front of goal and is among the top scorers in the league.

City have turned a corner following their disastrous start to the campaign. They'll be fiercely determined to get their revenge while continuing their surge up the Premier League table with a top-four finish in their sights.

Prediction: Draw

It's easy to just look at the star power of Manchester City and back them to win. But considering how well Spurs have performed against them this season, this is certainly not an easy game to call. Both sides are capable of causing each other problems and we think this will be a close affair, with the draw seeming the likeliest outcome.
