The Illustrious Career of Zinedine Zidane

The Illustrious Career of Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane. The man. The myth. The Legend. What is left to say about the immaculate Frenchman?

He was one of the very few naturally gifted minds the game has ever witnessed.

With his wickedly devised movement off the ball, his immaculate skills with the ball, and a sharp sense of game awareness, he was truly man-made to grace the history books, much like fans who win big at an online casino.

Certain careers are sensational, and with others, you feel that they should have achieved more than what they did, and then there is the career of Zinedine Zidane.

Will you see a more decorated football player and a manager today? We certainly don't think so.

While other mortals used to toil on every blade of grass on the field, the Frenchman used to glide on the pitch.

His great football brain used to pick out passes that others could only dream of.

Glorious Playing Career

Even though his peak years came in the black and white of Juventus, his trophy cabinet grew in the Real Madrid jersey. In his first three seasons in Real Madrid, he reached double figures in all three campaigns, cementing himself as a legend at the Bernabeu.

No true football fan will ever forget his left-foot volley against Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 Champions League final. That goal is considered to be one of the most memorable ones in Champions League history.

Speaking of unforgettable moments, Zidane has many of these memories (for good and bad reasons) in French colours. In 1998, he led France to their first-ever World Cup title. In the final against Brazil, he netted a brace as he demolished the South American hopes to regain the world title.

A Forgettable Memory

However, there were memories that he wished could be forgotten. In his last-ever official match against Italy in the 2006 final, the Frenchman was in the headlines once again. After giving France the lead in the final, Italy equalised soon after.

However, the temperature was rising in extra time as Zidane controversially headbutted Marco Materazzi. The former Juventus player was shown the red card in his last ever match as Italy won the World Cup.

In careers as big as Zidane's, you can expect such ups and downs. However, speaking of the 2006 World Cup, everyone will remember his performance against Brazil.

Against a team that had superstars such as Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and the likes, Zidane elevated his game to the levels mortals can only dream of. His quick passing and insane dribbling skills allowed him to cut Brazil's defence open time and time again, much to the delight of French fans seeking casino en ligne en france.

Eventually, it was his timely assist to Thierry Henry that decided the match.

Bottom Line

All in all, Zinedine Zidane is a name that has never gone out of the limelight.

So whatever any controversy might suggest about his personality, his on-field feats certainly proved time and time again that he was a true king without a crown when it came to football.

Even as a manager, he has the unique record of winning three consecutive Champions League titles, a feat no one before him has ever accomplished.

All accolades to his name are but an understatement as to the true genius of the man.
