PSG, Monaco, and Nice - Who Will Win Ligue Un This Season?

PSG, Monaco, and Nice - Who Will Win Ligue Un This Season?

The French Ligue Un is far from boring this year, as we are witnessing a tight fight between three contenders. If PSG is still going strong in the first place, the OGC Nice and AS Monaco are getting better and stronger with smart strategies and strong team members. This situation brings us to that ultimate question: will PSG keep the momentum, or will another club win the prestigious Ligue Un this year?

Bookmakers all around the world are excited about this league for many reasons. Soccer bet in SA is a strong market and they are placing wagers on the exploits of Kylian Mbappé, Aleksandr Golovin (AS Monaco) and Dante (OGC Nice). Let's see the strongest elements of every team and predict what could happen in this roller coaster of a tournament.

PSG: The Rise of Paris

The planets have aligned for the famous Parisian club, with 12 matches won, four null, and only one match lost. With forty points, the PSG is the number one team in the tournament. After the departure of Lionel Messi last season, the club was left with a sensation that Kylian Mbappé might also be transferred to Real Madrid.

This didn't happen, and Bondy's prodigy has managed to score 20 goals for the PSG so far, an outstanding performance that gets him closer to his performance of last season. Indeed, he scored 29 goals in Ligue Un in 2022/2023. He is followed by Aubameyang Pierre-Emerick who managed to score 12 goals for Marseille.

There are other reasons to think that Paris Saint Germain will perform well during this tournament. Two recruits are going to join the PSG ranks in January. Lucas Beraldo and Gabriel Moscardo are still very new to the public. They are considered the club's future as they both hail from Brasilia. Beraldo is a solid defender, and Moscardo is a promising midfielder with a few professional matches.

Nice: The Temptation of Winning Big

With 35 points at the end of 2023, OGC Nice is the biggest threat to PSG. The main asset of Nice is a very strong defence. They only took 4 four goals during the first 12 matches of this Ligue Un season.

With Dante Bonfim Costa Santos amongst the top players, Nice can prove that older players can be efficient in the long run. Indeed, Dante has reached forty years old, but he is giving the team the best defence of the championship.

Other strong players include Terem Moffi, who has scored eight goals so far, followed by Jeremie Bogo with eight goals this season. Simply put, OGC Nice is having a strong moment with no defeat for the last 13 matches. The last match against Lens (2-0) was a smooth demonstration of what the club can do, especially with the leadership of Jean Clair Todibo.

Football fans have widely applauded the methods of coach Francesco Farioli. The Italian manager proved successful this season by implementing new tactics and strengthening the defence. The club reaches the second position on the board.

Nice can keep this momentum and go undefeated for many matches to come. We also remember that the club won against PSG last September, even with possession of the ball by 30%.

Monaco, A Strong Contender

Adi Hutter, manager AS Monaco, has reasons to be happy as the club smoothly reaches third place in the tournament. Monaco's success is partly due to the stellar performance of Aleksandr Golovin. The Russian attacker has been named the club's best player by a group of supporters, and he already has 7 goals this season.

Wissam Ben Yedder and Takumi Minamino scored eight times each, a strong indicator of Monaco's thirst for glory. With such strong elements in the team, AS Monaco is bound to win more matches and might reach second place on the board by the end of January.

Verdict

Usually, there is little suspense about the French Ligue Un winner, as PSG wins the title regularly. This year, it is not impossible to think that Nice could get ahead and win the title. Of course, we must wait for the next matches to see if Kylian Mbappé will score more goals and break other records.

We feel very strongly for Nice and their superb defence, and there is a chance that the club will beat PSG next May. However, the club will have to make do with the enormous impact of Kylian Mbappé playing for the Parisian team. How this story unfolds only time will tell, but what we do know for sure is that it’s going to be a showdown for the ages.
