Premier League matchday 2 predictions

Premier League matchday 2 predictions

The Premier League is back underway for the 2020/2021 season with defending champions Liverpool hoping to reclaim the title they won in July.

A dramatic end to the least season saw the league say goodbye to Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth. They are replaced by the Championship winners (Leeds United), runners up (West Bromwich Albion) and play-off winners Fulham who beat Brentford at Wembley Stadium in early August.

Fans will be keen to see the best Premier League Betting offers and odds for 2020 and here we'll give you a run down of all the best fixtures from match week 2 of the new season.

Game week 2 match previews

Leeds United vs Fulham

Leeds' first home match back in the top flight since 2004 would usually see Elland Road filled to the rafters and backed by a boisterous crowd. However, the Leeds faithful will only be able to watch on their television screens as the game is played behind closed doors due to COVID-19.

Leeds have been splashing the cash this summer and have made an array of new signings including German defender Robin Koch from SC Freiburg and Spanish striker Rodrigo from Valencia. The Rodrigo signing set a new transfer record for the Yorkshire club with the Spaniard costing an initial £27m. The 29 year old also counts Benfica amongst his former clubs and has scored 8 times for the Spanish national team to go with his 35 goals in 141 appearances for Valencia.

Both teams got off to a losing start last week with Fulham drubbed 3-0 at home by an impressive new Arsenal side and Leeds losing 4-3 to Liverpool at Anfield. The Whites took the game to the Champions and looked on course for a point until a last minute penalty from Mo Salah won the game for the Reds.

Fulham's away form is notoriously poor. We can see anything other than a Leeds win at the weekend.

Score prediction: Leeds United 2-0 Fulham

Chelsea vs Liverpool

Undoubtedly the biggest game of the weekend sees current champions Liverpool travel to London to face 5 times Premier League winners Chelsea. Liverpool were lucky to overcome a newly-promoted Leeds United side at the weekend, winning 4-3 thanks to two penalties from Mo Salah.

Chelsea finished last season in 4th place, and have spent big this summer having ended last season trophyless. The Blues' current spending has passed the £200m with a number of headline signings, including midfielder Hakim Ziyech from Ajax for £36m, striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig for £48m, Leicester full back Ben Chilwell for £45m and German international midfielder Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen for £72m

Matches between the two tend to be tight affairs. Liverpool's form since winning the league, coupled with Chelsea's array of new signings eager to impress on their debut at Stamford Bridge make this a particularly tough one to call.

Score prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool
