New Zealand Star Hoping to Shine in Premier League

You can easily count the number of New Zealand footballers currently playing in the Premier League.

One is the experienced Winston Reid, who is the captain of the New Zealand international team and is currently at West Ham United. An injury has prevented Reid from playing in the Premier League during the early stages of the 2018/19 season and he is unlikely to feature again in 2018 due to a knee problem.

However, one man who is hoping to make a statement in the Premier League this season is Chris Wood. The New Zealand striker joined Burnley from Leeds United in August 2017 for a fee believed to be around £15 million. Wood enjoyed a great couple of seasons at Elland Road, scoring 41 goals in 83 appearances for Leeds United and his performances caught the eye of Burnley manager, Sean Dyche.

The Burnley boss clearly feels Woods has what it takes to become a top striker but buying a player from the Championship and expecting him to make the jump to the Premier League is always a risk. Logging on to an online casino New Zealand, which is Wood's homeland, is always risky but the fun and potential rewards make it a risk worth taking.

Speaking after signing the player, Dyche said, "We're really happy to have Chris here. He's someone I've liked for a while and someone I still think has more to come", before adding, "I think at 25, he's still got more development in him. I think he's hungry to do that, and he wants to do it here. That's a big positive for us".

The former West Bromwich Albion man certainly has the ability to score all types of goals. Whether it be a long range strike, a powerful header or a tap-in from three yards out, Wood is capable of finding the back of the net.

However, a striker is only as good as the service he receives and Wood will be hoping for plenty of crosses into the box this season.

Signing up to a top online casino, such as kingjohnnie.net and playing the wide selection of casino games is much like signing a player from the Championship. You know how to play the games but there is always the element of surprise which could lead to a big pay out and that's exactly what Dyche is hoping for with Wood.

Wood has just 5 goals to go before he becomes the all-time top scorer for New Zealand and that will be a record firmly in his sights. That target is something for the future but right now Wood is focused on his career with Burnley in an attempt to become a top goal scorer in the Premier League.
