bigaitch has rated Hill Dickinson Stadium 4.5 out of 5.
I visited the Hill Dickinson Stadium to re complete the 92. It is an amazing stadium, outside and inside the seating area itself, but its concourses let it down a little.
First, the outside. The approaches along the waterfront and the old docks area are quite evocative of a bygone era when the docks were thriving. Many buildings remain, some derelict but some repurposed for retail, or apartments. And then, the Stadium looms into view. A modern setting amongst an area predominantly built f many decades ago. The fact it has been built on reclaimed land adds to the fascination, and the entrances to the stadium via the original stone walls which have been left as a nod to the sites history is an excellent touch. In the seating, it is everything you would expect. Sweeping bowls of seats which are quite steep but allow excellent views and keep you close to the action dominate and the atmosphere inside is excellent.
The concourses however are a huge disappointment. Not only are they bland but in addition it feels as though a lot of space has been wasted. The concession areas and toilets seemed to be few in number, certainly in the NW area of the ground. The decor too is bland with very little in the way of Everton regalia or signs.
However this is a moot point, the Stadium is not in the same league as Spurs , but it is an advance on many others. I would not rule out a revisit despite having no affinity to Everton and living in the south.
There are Merseyrail stations nearby. I walked from Moorfields in the city which took about 25 minutes. Not a bad walk at all with a few watering holes along the way if thirsty. San hills is nearer but the other side of the stadium.
Excellent. Even in the corner and quite high up I had a superb view and was close enough to the game to be able to enjoy it.
Needs more loos .
Slightly better than normal Stadium fare but fairly pricey. My chicken strips and chips were nice but could have done with a few more chips.
Being a premier league game, plenty of police on duty and loads of stewards. All seemed pretty chilled and friendly enough.
Great atmosphere in the ground, the acoustics are great whether it was the music , announcements or the noise of the crowd.
