trebor's review of Vicarage Road

I wanted to go at the end of the season before but felt I'd be ''crashing the party'' by going at a end of season promotion match.
Both teams are good Footballing side's and I wanted to see a Zola side in action.

I went via Watford Junction to Watford High St. It may sound lazy going 1 mile by train but I paid for it and wasn't going to waste it.
The way to the ground is through an alley way and on to a street with plenty of Food outlets with a good sandwich bar by the ground. I didn't use the Pub but it looked alright and appeared to be similar to a ''London boozer'' a bit Queen Vic.
The ground is unique looking with modern stands once your inside. There is a new one under construction.

Location

As with London in particular it's got excellent Public transport links with mainline connections at Watford Junction.
Parking looked to be sparse if a big crowd attended.

View

I don't think it was the Graham Taylor stand when I went. But I did like that.
Good view of all the pitch. It was very slow getting out due to one end exit and entrance in the corner if you are in a rush for a Train you may need to leave early.

Facilities

I went early and the toilets were clean, the Club shop though was tiny and put me off going in due to the queue's.
Exit points were appalling and if any incident occurred there could be a big problem.

Food & Drink

Good cup of Tea served quickly and with a smiling attendant.

Police & Stewards

Police lined the road to encourage home and away fans to walk either side of the road.
The away end, home section of that stand and the Graham Taylor end all exit out the same doors this could be a clash point but Bournemouth had been hammered so looked a bit sheepish.

Atmosphere

Helped by the scoreline Watford sang quite well with a drum. And not as copycat as I thought they'd be.
Bournemouth had dull songs and were few and far between which was disappointing considering they had just been promoted.
