trebor's review of Turf Moor

The Club is very traditional and well patronised by the local population, yet lets itself down by failing to provide modern facilities or services that would enhance the experience.
And as Burnley pride themselves as a sensible family run club and are still in receipt of Premiership Parachute Payment they should be aiming to address thus while they are in a position to do so.

Location

As the Club or Public transport providers fail to serve either Train Station or Ground(If it does then information is hard to find) then it has to be marked down even if it's situated in a good town centre location.
Train:
The fastest and most convenient after match trains run from Burnley Manchester Road. Which is a 20 minute walk to the stadium and a longer uphill journey from.
Head right towards the main road cross roundabout and walk alongside the Tesco's and turn right at the bottom of the hill. The first after match train is 17:15 and hourly after. Considering it's all uphill might be a bit tight to make but beware if you go via town centre after beware the hill is steeper.
From Burnley Central. Head across the road and either use the Cab Office opposite or walk through the retail park onto the crossing and here you can either head left along main road or into town and do so there. This station is far easier to walk to/from and better for town centre but has a limited hour long stopping service without one till 18:34 Preston-wards.

View

I sat in a new stand and got soaked as the the lack of windshields on the side or a roof sheltering the front was adequate, legroom was also limited
The disability area was even worse with a view hampered even more by a raised pitch.

Facilities

Plenty of clean easily accessible toilets

Food & Drink

There was a local food & drink market laid on providing lots of excellent cheap food and made it possible to eat a generous meal for less than a fiver.
As this surpassed anything Football Grounds usually offer I doubt they'd risk losing the in Stadium trade in return for a better experience outside.

Police & Stewards

The biggest game that hasn't had a Police presence I have been to yet.

Atmosphere

I struggled to see or hear Charlton fans.
Burnley sang Burnley songs which was a good change for today's football.
Yet like any English ground was average.
