"Another excellent modern German ground"

Superb ground and a great first experience of a Bundesliga match. Excellent facilities in a good ground, great atmosphere and good football.

Location

About one mile walk from the town centre station, which was a short train ride north from central Cologne. By the station is a big modern shopping mall. Plenty of men selling beer on the footpath to the ground and almost everyone carrying beer towards the ground. McDonald's outside the ground, which was obviously packed.

Excellent seat and view. Easy access into the ground.

Facilities

Plenty of merchandise available from stalls outside the ground. Good toilets in a very clean and modern ground.

Food & Drink

Good prices, good food and drink. As usual in German grounds, different from at home, but a lot cheaper.

Police & Stewards

Heavy Police presence, as most of the crowd seemed to have been drinking. There was a fight after the game, but the Police watched and the stewards dealt with it effectively. Interesting to see the Police smoking and eating chips in their vans!

Atmosphere

Four-nil, so the home fans were happy. Not sure how it was not eight, as Hamburg had no defence.
