"Get's the basics right"

has rated Globe Arena 3.0 out of 5.

ajimofalltrades' review of Globe Arena

This is a nice little ground that gets all the basics right in terms of view, stewarding and facilities but without being outstanding.

It's an interesting layout with only two sides of the ground practically being used, which does probably detract from the atmosphere a little bit. However, it is a nice modern ground about 20-25 minutes walk from the city centre. It's easy to find though there is not much else going on around the ground but there are some excellent pubs in the town centre.

Overall a nice a little ground.

Location

Not a bad location and easy enough to find. There wasn't much around the stadium other than a gastropub and the best pubs are in the centre of town about a 25 minute walk away.

View

The away fans were offered a very good view along the side of the pitch towards one end. I managed to get a seat closer to the middle of the pitch with a good vantage. It's quite a modern stand so the were no impaired views or obstructions. The seats were standard style football seats which were comfortable enough.

Facilities

The toilets were fairly decent and in quite good condition. There was a little bit of a queue despite us having just under 400 fans. There was small amount of space under the concourse which we filled quite quickly. There was a screen underneath with Sky Sports so you could catch all the half time scores etc.

Food & Drink

We had a cup of tea before the game which was nice and reasonably price but we gave up queuing at half time as it wasn't going anywhere fast.

Police & Stewards

The stewards and police were excellent. They weren't overbearing and over-present at all. They were very pleasant and jovial and very helpful.

Atmosphere

Probably the weakest part of the ground's experience. The ground effectively only had two sides in use. One of the ends behind the goal had no people behind it and the side opposite the pitch had maybe 50 people on it. Most of the noise from the home fans came from behind the other goal though for most of the match they were mostly quiet. Someone did bang a drum once every now and then. Looking at the other reviews it seems like it is normally better than we experienced that day, though it was an awful game and the manager had been lamenting the lack of home support the week before.
