"Nice little ground, but far from great"

has rated Glanford Park 2.5 out of 5.

ajimofalltrades' review of Glanford Park

This is a nice little ground, but there are few problems such as getting there if you go by train and also some of the facilities in the ground weren't great for away fans.

The stadium itself is quite nice and everyone is very friendly and welcoming, though the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired for, even for a League One side.

One thing I though odd was that they have named their Executive Suite after Sir Ian Botham, which I thought was really milking the affiliation considering he only played 11 games for them.

Location

If going by train then the stadium is quite a distance but easy to find even though I didn't see much in the way of buses to and from the stadium and station. Other than that it is not too bad as there is plenty to do round the stadium in terms of food and drink.

View

There are some obstructions including a support right in the middle of the stand where away fans are sat. The seats are sat quite low, so taller folk might be a bit cramped, but there is some room in front. In general not a bad view of the whole pitch though.

Facilities

Unfortunately not great. Due to some weird design of the male toilet in the away stand, the urinal runs along the wall of the narrow entrance to the loo which means that people are using them while others shuffle in behind them. It also meant that it was difficult for some people to get out during all this.

Food & Drink

The food was not fantastic, I had a hot-dog and it tasted like the real cheap end of the range. Queuing was not a problem.

Police & Stewards

Everyone was incredibly friendly and nice to talk with and were always helpful and willing to help and answer questions. They also put custom made posters up in the toilets specific to the away team telling us to enjoy the day and have a safe journey home, I thought this was a nice touch.

Atmosphere

The local fans didn't do too much to create an atmosphere, though they had little to shout about at that time of the season. However the overall feel of the ground is nice and everyone was really friendly and welcoming. It's a nice compact little ground which does help what little atmosphere there was.
