The first European game I went to was 92/93 season and was Leeds United when my father in-law hired a box just because no Rangers supporters were meant to go in case of trouble.
The game was something to remember because everyone wrote us off,and even our media because they were the English Champions and had great players.
The first leg was at Ibrox which we won 2-1,we were in the box and we didn't know the light had to be switched off and when Mark Hateley scored the goal we went berserk and started banging on the glass window and singing,little did we know the Leeds fans turned round and going mental when we were going crazy when we scored and their were executive boxes right round the ground and we were the only box with the light on.
Winning 1-0 at half-time then into the second half we got a second goal with a great one two with Hateley and Durrant then Hateley swings in a great to Super Ally McCoist to head home and we went crazy that bad the police and stewards came in to us to keep the noise down.
Near the end of the game Leeds pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 at full time with a 4-2 agg to the mighty Glasgow Rangers,they said that no Rangers fans went down but believe me they went down in their hundreds.
We stayed in I'm sure was the Windmill Hotel and it was one big party as at least a hundred fans were in the hotel after the game for a right good Sash Bash and the drinks were flowing.
The Leeds game was my first and the start of a new adventure that year as I went to Bochum in Germany to play CSKA Moscow then Brugge in Belguim then to Marseilles in France and what a year that was and without doubt it was the year we should have lifted The European Cup for the cheating of Marseilles Bernard Tapie that year.
Well I think there's at least 3 games that sticks in my head,obvious the Leeds game,then there's the Lyon game which nobody gave us hope with the French champions and won 3-0 away with McCulloch netting the first goal in the first half,then Cousin and Beasley scored in the second half.
The best game I have been at was Fiorentina without a shadow of a doubt in the semi-final of the UEFA Cup in 2008,the game finished 0-0 at full time and after extra time so it went into penalty kicks and we won 4-2 with the wee man Nacho Novo scoring the winner to take us into the final and what a night it was.
Overjoyed at Rangers reaching the final I started to be a sap and started crying and had to pinch myself if it was really us that reached the final.
There's been a few games that's been shocking I can name a few off the top of my head,Juventus 4-1,Ajax 4-1,Grasshoppers 3-0,Kaunas 2-1,Viktoria Zizkov 2-0,Maribor 2-1 and Malmo 1-0 were all a nightmare.
The worst game has got to be the UEFA Cup final so disappointed with my team that day,I know if we came out the traps and just went for it I'm sure we could have got a result.
Zenit beat us 2-0 but if we just went for it in a one off game 4-4-2 I think we would have got a result.
They said that Manchester may not be big enough but I'll tell you this Manchester wasn't big enough,there were at least 240k fans their and will never be matched by any team in the world.
I been to many tremendous stadiums like the Bernabeau,the Nou Camp,San Siro,Wembley,the Emirates,The Allianz Arena and the Amsterdam Arena but the best I've been to is the Veltins Arena which was amazing,when Rangers played them in a friendly and was half full and I would like to play them in Europe to a full house.
It has to be the Polish Army Stadium were Legia Warsaw play.
Rangers were meant to play Anzhi Machachkala in Russia but had to reschedule the game to Poland because of the troubles and fighting in Russia.
We beat the Russians 1-0 to a Bert Konterman thunderbolt shot.
The ground was like a tip with rubble lying everywhere and the toilets were deplorable and the place wasn't that good either.
